This half-circle carpet worked in garter stitch is a fast, easy way to customize any room in your home.
This one work perfectly in the nursery, near the changing table until Agathe move in her room. Then it will be beside her bed.
Made with needle US15 and ribbon yarn, it will be over in a few evenings.
You can customize it even more by working more rows, adding more stripes or colors as you want.
Dimensions: Wingspan = 43" and 14" wide.
Yarn:
Hoooked Ribbon XL, DMC
80% high quality recycled cotton, 20% others recycled fibers
250g / 131yds (120m)
Colors used: C1 Sandy Ecru and C2 Iced Apricot.
Notions: US15 (10mm) circular needle, suggested size or giving gauge. 4 markers.
Gauge: 10sts / 15rows = 4" (10cm) in garter stitch.
Yardage: For me sample, I used 95yds (85m) for C1 and 115yds (105m) for C2. Yardage will change is number of rows, numbers of colors, number of sections changes.
Directions:
Sous Tes Pieds is worked flat in garter stitch from the center of the carpet to the exterior. The garter tab cast-on gives you a nice edge, very discreet and in harmony with the border. You an add as much colors / stripes as you want. Each section is made by 16 rows.
Abrevations:
K: knit
RS: right side
Sl: slip stich purlwise with yarn in the back.
SM: slip marker
St(s) : stitche(s)
WS: wrong side
YO: yarn over
Section 1, Garter Tab Cast-On
With your needle and C1, cast-on 3 stitches.
Work 14 rows in garter stitch.
At the end of the 14th row, don’t turn your work, rotate it 90°.
Pick-up and knit 6sts from the cast-on to the 14th row.
Rotate again 90°.
Pick-up and knit 3sts at the cast-on.
Cut C1.
There are 12sts.
Section 2
With C2.
Set-up row (RS): Sl1, k2, PM, YO k2, PM, YO, k2, YO, PM, k2, YO, k3.
R2 (WS): Sl1, k to end of row.
There are 16sts.
R3 (RS): Sl1, k2, SM, YO, k to next marker, SM, YO, k to next marker, YO, SM, k to next marker, YO, SM, k3.
R4 (WS): Sl1, k to end of row.
There are 20sts.
Repeat rows R3 and R4 8 times total (16 rows). Cut C2.
There are 44sts.
Section 3
With C1.
Repeat rows R3 and R4 8 times total (16 rows). Cut C1.
There are 76sts.
Section 4
With C2.
Repeat rows R3 and R4 8 times total (16 rows). Cut C2.
There are 108sts.
Section 5
With C1, work R3 and R4 once. Keep C1 at the back of the work.
With C2, work R3 and R4 once. Keep C2 at the back of the work.
With C1, work R3 and R4 once. Cut C1.
There are 120sts.
Finishing
With C2, bind off the stitch with this elastic method:
knit the 1st stitch,
place this stitch on left needle,
knit together 2 stitches in the back loop.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the end of the row.
Cut C2, weave in all ends. Block to dimension.
